Thailand to Lure in Foreign Filming with Tax Breaks
12 April 2011
In a move to draw in more funding from international film makers, Thailand’s cabinet decided on Tuesday that Thailand will not tax foreign actors’ earnings on films made in the country. The tax break will remain in place from 2011 through 2015.
The decision comes on the heels of filming of the sequel to the extremely popular film “The Hangover” within Thailand, and massive exposure of the country is expected after the film hits the theaters. Thailand Film Office reported that the film crew and directors spent around 500 million baht ($16.7 million) over 40 days of filming. |
