Lance Armstrong Admits to Doping
American cyclist Lance Armstrong told Oprah Winfrey on Monday that he used performance-enhancing drugs during the Tour de France, according to the Associated Press.
The interview is Armstrong’s first public statement on the topic since he was banned from competitive cycling and stripped of his seven Tour de France titles. Armstrong previously refused to “engage in arbitration over the doping charges,” according to a report by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.
The interview with Oprah was taped on Monday, and will be aired on the Oprah Winfrey Network on Thursday.
