China Blocks DuckDuckGo, the Search Engine that Doesn’t Track Users
China has blocked DuckDuckGo—a privacy-protecting search engine—from its Internet users since September 3, 2014, reports the Bangkok Post.
DuckDuckGo is a search engine that doesn’t store user data or track online activity, and recently became a search engine default option for iPhones in the new iOS8 platform.
The founder and CEO of DuckDuckGo, Gabriel Weinberg, confirmed in a Tweet that the company knows the platform has been blocked. Weinberg told Search Engine Land that they aren’t working with Chinese officials at this time to unblock DuckDuckGo.
