Thai Appeals Court Upholds Death Sentence for Train Child Killer
Yesterday the Appeals Court upheld the decision of the lower court, to issue the death sentence for Wanchai Saengkhao, the man who last year raped and murdered a 13 year old girl on a train, reports The Nation.
Wanchai, 23 was an employee on the overnight train to Bangkok on July 5th 2014. He attacked the girl on the sleeping berth, before throwing her off the train while still alive.
The verdict was heard yesterday at Prachuap Khiri Khan’s Hua Hin Provincial Court.
Wanchai can file an appeal within 30 days. He had requested a lighter sentence, saying he had confessed and repented.
The Appeals Court said he would have received the same sentence without his confession, stating solid incriminating evidence led him to confess.
The girls family say they are satisfied with the verdict.
