Professor Charged for Allegedly Trading Grades for Sex
National University of Singapore associate professor of law Tey Tsun Hang was charged with corruption for allegedly trading better grades for sex with a female student.
Not only did the student have sex with Tey, twice but she also gave him a Mont Blac pen, two tailored shirts, and an Apple Inc. iPod Touch. Tey, who has been suspended by the university, said he would contest the charges.
According to SF Gate, his prosecution follows the filing of corruption charges last month against the former director of the country’s drug agency and Singapore former Civil Defense Force chief, for allegedly accepting sexual favors from female executives seeking agency contract. A separate hearing charged three men with having sex with an underage prostitute, bringing the number of accused men in the case to 51.
The National University of Singapore said in a statement that it is investigating Tey. He faces a maximum fine of S$100,000 (US$79,888) and a jail term of as long as five years for each of the six corruption charges if convicted.
