Nepal to Issue “Third Gender” IDs
Nepal announced today that it will issue “third gender” IDs to those who do not identify as male or female. The Nepalese Supreme Court ruled in favor of the citizenship certificates in 2007, but it has taken five years to implement.
Activists hailed the decision, saying that it will help sexual minorities who previously struggled to get jobs and passports, enroll in schools or own property.
