Protestors Demand Google Remove Anti-Islamic Film
NDTV Gadgets | On Thursday, several hundred Muslims protested http://gadgets.ndtv.com/internet/news/google-thailand-takes-heat-for-anti-islam-film-from-local-protestors-273000 outside the U.S. embassy as well as the Google offices in Bangkok to denounce an anti-Islam film that has sparked global protests.
Around 300 people partook in the riot, the latest in a line of protests against a low-grade film entitled “innocence of Muslims,” believed to have been produced by a small group of extremists.
A procession of demonstrators later petitioned Google asking the company to ban the film, which was hosted on its video sharing site YouTube.
Google Thailand Representative Peter Fretten met the group and spoke to them offering to forward the protestors’ concerns to the company headquarters and saying that he “acknowledged that this is an important issue.”
Violence triggered by the film, which mocks the Prophet Mohammed, has claimed around 50 lives, including that of the U.S. ambassador to Libya.
