Expats in Thailand Can Still Extend Stay without Blacklist
The Immigration Bureau posted an update to its website with regards to the recent news that foreigners overstaying in Thailand would be blacklisted, reports Thai Visa.
Immigration laws state that the normal overstay penalty is 500 Baht per day up to a maximum of 20,000 Baht. This law is still valid and is not the regulation in question.

According to the Bureau’s announcement (see below), the new regulations introduced would ban violating immigrants from reentering Thailand for a specific period correlating with the amount of days overstayed. But this new regulation is still “under procedure of approval by the Ministry of Interior.”
Thai Visa said this means “the new rule is not yet in effect yet,” and strongly urged foreigners on overstay to clear it as soon as possible to avoid blacklisting.
