Members of the European Parliament voted to create a European Defense Union which requires all member states to pay 2% of their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) according to a Activist Post.

The press release states that the need for building the union arose from “Terrorism, hybrid threats and cyber- and energy insecurity”.

The resolution asks member states to contribute 2% of their annual GDP for “establishing (of) multinational forces and (an) EU headquarters to plan and command crisis management operations, and enabling the EU to act where NATO is unwilling to do so.”
