Woman Fights for Bigger Divorce Settlement from Porn-Obsessed Husband

by Admin on August 30, 2012

An Emirati woman who ended her marriage because she claims her husband spent too much time watching pornography is fighting for a bigger divorce settlement.

Already the Dubai Courts have ordered that her husband pay her Dhs100,000. However, she feels this is insufficient and has lodged an appeal to get more.

During the divorce hearing, the court was told that the woman discovered on her wedding day that her groom had a sexually transmitted infection.

Records show the couple split when the husband went to Thailand for a trip. He sent her roses claiming he would be back shortly but after a couple of days he allegedly texted her and asked her to send her maid to collect his stuff from their home.

The court had been told that the woman’s family paid Dhs280,000 towards the marriage expenses and that the bride gave the groom Dhs30,000 to arrange the honeymoon but he just booked them into a cheap hotel.

A date for the appeal has not yet been set.

Thailand divorce attorneys have the opinion that watching pornography is not normally considered a grounds for divorce. However, transmitting a sexual disease may be evidence of adultery which is a ground for divorce in Thailand.
