Uber and GrabCar Running Illegally in Thailand

Transport officials have warned against using the services

Ride-sharing services such as Uber and Grabcar are still illegal under Thai law said a deputy at Thailand’s Land Transport department to Thairath.

Nanthapong Chertchu said that by offering Uber services, drivers are blatantly ignoring the law and the police authorities are within their rights to make arrests of drivers that are not registered.

Local taxi drivers have been working towards getting the services banned altogether because they say it affects their business.

Uber has already been told to pull out of Thailand until a proper decision has been made regarding their legality but so far, Uber has vowed to stand by their drivers.
