According to the Hurriet Daily News, Ankara’s US embassy announced on October 8th the suspension of all non-immigrant visa services.
A statement on the embassy’s Twitter account read:
“Recent events have forced the United States Government to reassess the commitment of the Government of Turkey to the security of US Mission facilities and personnel. In order to minimize the number of visitors to our Embassy and Consulates while this assessment proceeds, effective immediately we have suspended all non-immigrant visa services at all U.S. diplomatic facilities in Turkey”.

The decision came as a result of turbulent relations between the two allied nations. Earlier this month, Metin Topuz, an Istanbul Consulate staff member, was arrested and charged with espionage. The US embassy stated that Washington was “deeply disturbed” by the arrest, calling it “pursuit of vengeance”.
Currently, there has been no indication of when non-immigrant visa services are expected to resume. Until they do, Turkish nationals are unable to apply for visas to reside in the US.
