Thailand’s Most Wanted Hitmen

by Admin on July 29, 2013

Did you know the Thailand 2013 Most Wanted Hitmen list has 100 names on it? We didn’t either until we read this interesting article by popular American author, Christopher Moore.

As Moore himself notes, Thailand law enforcement problems are not exclusive to the Land of Smiles. Every police force worldwide encounters the same set of issues. The Thai police were however obliged to hold their hands up and accept they were losing the war of tracking the hitmen down. They moved onto a new technique therefore reports Moore and have begun to rank them with Level One being the cream of the crop, the most professional of Thai hitmen, to lower down the pecking order of Level Four being those who have killed in conflict rather than being an actual hitman.

This article does of course consider a “hitman” as being an individual. But what about the idea of an assassin actually being a group of people? American hard hitting, war reporter Michael Hastings was recently killed in a car accident, that only a few details have been released about. Whilst we have no real knowledge of the circumstances, we find it interesting to note that Hastings was allegedly involved in investigating a new scale at the time of his death. In fact the very piece that launched Hastings career, The Runaway General, was responsible  for the resignation of General Stanley McChrystal. He was a respected reporter, who was not afraid to shy away from controversial topics. Indeed, just hours before his death, Hastings has sent an email to friends saying he suspected he was being investigated by the FBI. He had also been in touch with wikileaks lawyers. His death therefore has caused mass suspicion, but we will probably never be told the truth of what actually happened.
