Thailand’s “Hitler” Fashion Trend Offending Tourists

by Admin on March 11, 2013

Thailand’s trend for “Hitler-esque” fashion has long offended tourists and visitors to Thailand, and now it seems the trend has spread throughout the region. Bangkokians sport t-shirts depicting Hitler as Ronald McDonald and other cartoons, while teenagers  in India are shopping at a store called “Hitler.” The store received backlash for its retail name which it eventually changed.

In Japan, a costume store sold Hitler costumes until it received numerous complaints, pulling the costume off its shelves. Owners of the stores and those spotted wearing Nazi-inspired attire responded similarly, saying they didn’t realize the severity of using Hitler’s image as a brand.
