The Thai government is waiving its single entry tourist visa fee of ฿1000 starting from December 1st 2016 to February 28th 2017 in a bid to boost tourism in the coming months. Visa on arrival fee, which had previously been upped to ฿2000 baht will also be temporarily reduced during the 3 month period.

Previous notices had indicated that the fee exemption was set only for 19 countries. However, a notice at the Royal Thai Embassy suggests that all countries will be exempt from paying the single entry tourist visa fee.

It was also reported that Thailand may introduce a ten year visa in order to boost the country’s growing medical tourism.
