Thailand Waives ฿1000 Visa fee from December to February

The government hopes to boost tourism in the country during the winter months

The Thai government is waiving its single entry tourist visa fee of ฿1000 starting from December 1st 2016 to February 28th 2017 in a bid to boost tourism in the coming months. Visa on arrival fee, which had previously been upped to ฿2000 baht will also be temporarily reduced during the 3 month period.

Previous notices had indicated that the fee exemption was set only for 19 countries. However, a notice at the Royal Thai Embassy suggests that all countries will be exempt from paying the single entry tourist visa fee.

It was also reported that Thailand may introduce a ten year visa in order to boost the country’s growing medical tourism.
