Just one week after banning smoking inside and directly outside of public buildings, Thailand has moved to legalize, tax, and regulate e-cigarettes and vaporizers.
Thailand’s tax and revenue department announced that it would begin taxing the electronic smoking devices, which essentially paves the way for their legal use in the country.
The Thai Food and Drug Administration will be in charge of approving and categorizing e-cigarettes and vaping liquids.
In the past, those who vaped in Thailand did not know if they were risking fines or even jail time due to the vagueness of the laws surrounding the use of e-cigarettes in the Kingdom, according to Thailand lawyer Jiraporn Thongphong.
