As Chiang Rai Times reports, former holy man Wirapol Sukphol claims he has been given refugee status in the States, but this has not been confirmed by US authorities.

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) have taken all the necessary legal steps to bring Wirapol back to Thailand, but it is up to US officials to decide.

Fully bilingual US immigration lawyers in Bangkok Chaninat and Leeds have a team of experienced US immigration attorneys, who have decades of experience managing the US visa application process for Thai nationals.

Wirapol has been accused of breaching his vows of celibacy and moral living. Two months ago a video of him on a private jet was anonymously uploaded to YouTube.

An investigation has found he has an astonishing amount of assets, including over 100 luxury cars.

The Department of Special Investigation has pressed seven charges against him, including child abduction, statutory rape, fraud, money laundering and breaching the Computer Crimes Act.
