Thailand PM Bans Parading of Suspects

The Prime Minister of Thailand bans the parading of suspects at police briefings

BangkokPost reports that Thailand Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has banned the parading of suspects at police briefings stating that it is a violation of human rights.

The ban was imposed shortly after the PM reviewed a report submitted by the Rights and Liberties protection Department of the Justice Ministry between July 23rd and 29th.

He said that the police briefings should be focused on the investigation at hand and not on the list of suspects they have.  It has been a long standing practice amidst police investigations in Thailand to parade the suspects amassing much media coverage and public attention.
