The Government Gazette published the Notification on Wage Rates for Skilled Workers According to Skill Standards of the National Wage Committee on August 10, 2016.
This notification raised the minimum wage between THB340 to THB550. This wage is dependent on the worker’s skill and level of experience and is applicable only to skilled workers from 20 branches employed under 5 industries;
- Electrical and electronics industry
- Parts and spare parts of motor vehicles industry
- Motor vehicle industry
- Jewelry industry
- Logistics Industry

The Notification will come into effect after a period of 90 days from the 10th of August.
Failure to pay the minimum wage will result in imprisonment of up to six months or a THB100,000 fine or both.
