A major Thai law firm had four of its offices raided recently for facilitating the purchase of land by foreigners using Thai nominees as sponsors.
The tactic is becoming an extremely popular way for foreigners to buy land in Thailand without having to go through the proper legal channels, stipulated in the Thai Foreign Business Act and Thailand Land Code.
According to investigators who raided the offices in Bangkok, Koh Samui, and Phuket, the firm, DFDL Thailand Legal, and Tax had helped foreigners purchase over 2 billion baht worth of land.
