Thailand’s cabinet has ordered a halt to gold mining countrywide, following complaints regarding environmental and health problems associated with the industry.
Atchaka Sibunruang, the Industry Minister, announced during the weekly meeting that there will be a termination of all gold exploration and mining activities within Thailand. This will come into effect at the end of the year.
