Sensitivity to animal rights laws is growing worldwide, with many countries passing new legislation to protect animals from abuse and neglect.
The USA already has various animal protection laws in place, some of which are rather obscure. According to National Geographic News, it’s illegal to kill bats in Texas, unless they’re inside or on top of buildings. In California, it’s against the law to eat frogs which are kept for competitive purposes.
Thankfully, laws against animal cruelty in the US have been tightening, with new bills coming into effect in several states.
In Pennsylvania, Governor Tom Wolf signed the Animal Abuse State Overhaul bill, which increases penalties for animal abusers.

In New York, new legislation was passed to require pet dealers, animal shelters, rescue organizations and animal NGOs to adhere to state regulations for animal care.
Lebanon, a country known for its illegal trade for exotic animals, recently passed it’s very first animal protection law.
Thailand passed its first animal abuse law in 2014. Two years later, Kanchanaburi’s famous Tiger Temple was shut down for the illegal possession and trafficking of endangered animals.
