Small Teeth Whitening Businesses Devastated Following US Court Win for Dentists

A triumph for dentists, but disappointment for teeth whitening entrepreneurs; a final decision has been made by a federal appeals court in Connecticut, USA regarding who is permitted to carry out the cosmetic procedure, Fox Business reports.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York ruled that Sensational Smiles cease providing teeth whitening services or face legal action.

Connecticut’s Dental Commission heard from experts in the field regarding the potential health risks connected to the use of lights used on teeth to activate peroxides.

Thailand attorney’s, Chaninat and Leeds have decades of experience in successfully supporting international businesses in Thailand.

Lawyer Paul Sherman, of the Virginia law firm Institute of Justice, represented Sensational Smiles, the business opposing the regulation, argued that it is unreasonable to require eight years of higher education “before they can point a flashlight at someone’s teeth.”

He says:

“Connecticut’s policy had nothing to do with public health and safety and only serves to make life difficult for entrepreneurs who wanted to earn an honest living offering teeth-whitening services.”

The Dental Commission has now ruled only qualified dentists may perform teeth whitening procedures.
