Sex Trafficking Ring Busted in U.S that Targeted Thai Women

Guardian reports that more than a dozen people across the U.S have been arrested for being part of a sophisticated sex trafficking ring that held women from Bangkok,Thailand in debt bondage.

According to reports, the women were initially brought to the U.S under false promises at better lives with fake visas and permits. The women were then forced to work as modern day “sex slaves” to pay off the debts, which usually amounted to tens of thousands of dollars.

Alex Khu, special agent in charge of Homeland Security Investigations in Minneapolis said in an interview with the Associated Press, “We feel pretty confident that based on the number of important-position folks we are taking down, we’ll really hurt this organization,”

About a dozen people were arrested in Minneapolis, Chicago, Atlanta and Los Angeles including the organization’s boss, who was arrested in Belgium.
