According to a British legal expert, intercourse with a sex robot does not amount to adultery, The Sun reports.

Solicitor Neil Brown said that this is because adultery “is only conducted between a respondent and a person of the opposite sex”.

Sex robot technology is becoming more and more sophisticated, with some models now able to speak and respond to questions. With the fantasy of being able to have sex with robots quickly becoming a reality, many are wondering how it will affect relationships. Since it doesn’t count as adultery, it won’t be grounds for divorce.

Jo Hemmings, a behavioural psychologist, disagrees. “Any clandestine relationship which contains a sexual element can – and I think will in time – be considered to be infidelity”, she said.
