No one wants to get old and require care, but just in case, you might want to hear about the new “nurse robots” that have been introduced in a Chinese nursing home.
As Shanghai Daily explains, these robots can “chat, dance, sing, and entertain. If they are yelled at, the robots respond with: “I also have feelings.”
Dun Xiangming, associate professor at the Robotics Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, explains that as people are living longer, there is a growing necessity for intelligent machines of this sort to work as a supplement to care work.
Bangkok lawyers Chaninat and Leeds are a team of highly qualified and bilingual Thai and American attorneys, who work all over Thailand.
With rapid advances in technology, it seems our reliance on robots for certain needs will become increasingly commonplace. For example, just last week Thai Law Forum reported on the development of “sex robots” and how they may soon take over red light districts around the world.
Although the idea of being intimate with a robot is disturbing to some, this could be a boon for anti-human trafficking activists, as well as mark a sharp decrease in the contraction of sexually transmitted diseases.
Similarly to the sex robots, who apparently will be used for “socializing and interacting” as well as sex, the robot nurses can help counteract against loneliness.
Wang Zhen, chairman of the care home’s board of directors, said:
“The robots are companions. They can keep old people company, while helping families monitor the health of their elderly relatives.”
