Recreational Marijuana Legalized in 3 More States

Another 4 states legalized the use of medical marijuana

The states of California, Nevada and Massachusetts voted to legalize the use of recreational marijuana on November 8. They joined Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, Washington and the District of Columbia in the list of states that have legalized the drug.

Four other states, Arkansas, Florida, Montana and North Dakota legalized the use of marijuana for medical purposes according to a report by Time Magazine.

Nine states were asked to vote on the measure including Arizona who rejected adult use of marijuana and Maine, whose decision remains pending.

Currently, marijuana has been legalized in 28 states in the U.S while another 16 allow for limited use of the drug.

Several countries around the globe are also loosening laws around the drug. The UK legalized the use of weed extract for medical purposes. It was reported that the penalties involving possession of weed in Thailand may soon be reduced.
