Protests Over Change in French Prostitution Law

by Admin on October 21, 2015

Protesters in France are demonstrating against a proposed amendment to a prostitution law, which will legalize the trade for the workers, but not for their clients, reports Straits Times.

This is part of a string of protests regarding a trend in law changes, fueled by the so called “Swedish model” to prostitution which was deemed a success, but also due to Amnesty International’s recent vote to legalize the sex industry.

The vote was the cause of much controversy, however it was cast on the belief that by legitimizing the trade and giving sex workers normal employment rights, that they would have improved quality of life. It was also hoped that this would decrease human trafficking associated with the industry.

Thailand divorce law has some differences to Western countries. Chaninat and Leeds’ experienced and bilingual divorce lawyers can advise you on your best legal options.

However, those who disagree say that countries such as the Netherlands where prostitution is legal still have high levels of trafficking, and that by keeping the purchasing sex illegal, the trade will be pushed even further underground.

Since Amnesty’s vote in August, numerous countries have changed their prostitution laws, including Ukraine and Spain.
