Thai Law Forum yesterday ran the story of Anthony Kwan Hok-chun, 29, of Initium Media, who was in Bangkok to cover the recent bombing at Erawan Shrine. He was detained on Sunday at Suvarnabhuni airport where he planned to take a flight back to Hong Kong. He claims he had no idea that body armor was considered a weapon under the Arms Control Act.

Thai drug offense lawyers Chaninat and Leeds have decades of experience handling drug cases in Thailand, for both Thai nationals and foreigners.

Despite international shock, Pol Lt Gen Prawut Thavornsiri defends the decision. He said:

“The bulletproof vest of the Hong Kong photographer was made of a controlled material, which is illegal”

Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai said:

“This case should be a lesson for everyone to be more careful and learn about other countries’ rules, rather than doing things based on one’s assumption of what is right or wrong.”
