Poisonous Green Mambas Flee from Cholera Outbreak and Attempt to Sabotage Nuclear Reactor with Decomposing Human Leg

by Admin on November 8, 2011

We may have taken a bit of creative license with today’s blog title. In our defense, so many bizarre news stories surrounding theBangkokfloods have emerged over the past week that it’s been difficult to keep them straight.

First of all – per our predictions, public health has started to become an issue due to the Bangkok floods, despite vociferous protests from the powers that be. At least one case of Cholera has already been confirmed inBangkok, and multiple cases of Leptospirosis. Cholera in particular is a highly contagious disease that can be easily spread through contaminated water – somethingBangkok and surrounding areas have a large supply of at the moment. Beyond vaccinations, the best defense against the disease is rigorously boiling all fresh fruits and vegetables and using hand sanitizer.

Next up, did you know that Bangkok has a nuclear reactor? We didn’t – but now we do, because it’s apparently (alarmingly) located in a flooded area of the city. The Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology, located onVibhavadi Rangsit Roadis apparently flooded, but officials insist that the water has not reached the reactor housed at the site, and that no levels of nuclear radiation contamination have been noted in the surrounding floodwater. Very comforting indeed.

On November 3rd, Bangkok officials confirmed that a decomposing human leg had been found in a human thigh floating amidst a sluicescreen in Bang Sue district. The body part, likely belonging to an unknown murder victim was found encased in a pair of pants that also contained a cell phone without a sim card. Information on the identity of thevictim has yet to surface…

Finally – Mambas. The breakout of 15 highly poisonous snakes from a home outside of Bangkok is currently being investigated, as officials suspect that the story may be a hoax. That said, freshly imported antivenom for mamba bites won’t arrive in Thailand until today or tomorrow, so keep your eyes out.

Stay out of the water, folks. Who knows what’s floating around in there…
