Philippine Bishop Says New Divorce Law is the Devil’s Doing

by Admin on September 14, 2015

Bishops in the Philippines have labeled a divorce law as “the Devil at work” and “dangerous” as it may lead to full divorce, which the Church opposes, reports UCA News.

The country’s House of Representatives has approved a law which will allow Filipino’s to remarry after a divorce has been granted abroad.

The new bill, which aims to amend the Family Code of the Philippines, proposes that divorce obtained overseas by a foreign spouse will be recognized without needing to seek judicial recognition.

Rep. Rufus Rodriguez, an author of the bill, said: “The bill will only require the Filipino spouse to submit a duly authenticated copy of the decree of absolute divorce.”

But Archbishop Ramon Arguelles of Lipa said the bill “is prelude to total divorce.”

He also said:

“Everyone should now understand that the deception is not over. The devil is at work. We are right at the center.”
He continued:

“That’s why I fight these because they are anti-God and immoral […] those who pass this law will face the judgment of God.”

Thai divorce attorneys Chaninat and Leeds are experts in successfully handling divorce cases, both between Thai nationals and foreigners.

Bishop Honesto Ongtioco of Cubao said Church teaching on marriage “does not change even if some people would advocate change.”

The Phillippines is the only country in the world apart from the Vatican that does not permit divorce.

It was legal in the country until 1950 when the country’s New Civil Code was introduced.

Legal seperation is allowed, however the couple are still considered married under law and cannot remarry.
