We reported earlier this week that the UK is set to introduce a “Cinderella Law” which could see parents who emotionally neglect their children prosecuted, and if convicted, they could face imprisonment for up to ten years.

Critics have pointed out that the phrase “emotional neglect” is open to interpretation. The Independent seems to suggest that if parents are found drinking alcohol, smoking or letting their children become overweight, then these are all factors which could be interpreted as “emotional neglect” and could lead to criminal charges being filed against parents and potential abuse by overreacting social workers and malicious persons.
