In a newly proposed bill, women seeking abortion in Oklahoma will require a written statement from the father of the unborn child to show that he is in agreement with the procedure.

House Bill 1441 was introduced by Republican representative Justin Humphrey and according to the bill, “No abortion shall be performed in this state without the written informed consent of the father of the fetus.”

There are exceptions to the bill including “if the father of the fetus is deceased,” if the mother’s health is in danger and if the fetus is a result of rape or incest.

This piece of legislation comes shortly after Arkansas governor signed into law a bill that would allow a woman’s family or spouse to sue her abortion provider and Kentucky’s House Bill 2 that mandates doctors to describe ultrasounds to women seeking abortions.
