The law was passed with the hope of combating wrongful convictions

The City of New York just passed a law that requires all police interrogations to be recorded on video during the entire time a suspect is in custody according to PIX11.
NY lawmakers approved the law on Monday which was championed by The Innocence Project, an organization that works to release wrongfully convicted prisoners.
The law only applies to Class 1 felony crimes and is an attempt to limit forced confessions and wrongful convictions.
The law is expected to go into effect in April 2018.
Criminal defense attorney at Thailand‘s Chaninat & Leeds has praised the law. “This is definitely a step in the right direction,” she said adding that the law will set a precedent that other states will surely follow.
