New Law Cuts Red Tape in Thailand Govt.

Thailand passed a new law to process government approvals and licenses faster by eliminating unnecessary red tape, reports AsiaOne.

Some new requirements government agencies must meet under the new law, as reported by AsiaOne, include:
– Establish clear procedures for granting approval and license requests
– Create handbooks providing clear information on the work timeline and procedure
– Regularly update people on the progress and any delays

These requirements will extend to all ministries, provincial authorities and agencies, including those at the local administrative level.

Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said, “We hope this will get rid of unnecessary bureaucracy and every government unit will be able to tell people how long it will take for their requests to be approved or their licences to come through.”

The law was announced on January 22 and will be enforced in July.
