Lawmakers in Alberta, Canada have passed a bill which will make it illegal to discriminate against transgender people.
According to CBC News, Bill 7 will amend the Alberta Human Rights Act to prohibit discrimination based on gender identity and expression.
Thai labor lawyers Chaninat and Leeds have decades of experience dealing with employment issues, including issues that may be experienced by those who identify as transgender.
The bill was introduced last week. Justice Minister Kathleen Ganley said:
“These proposed changes will ensure trans and gender variant Albertans are treated with the dignity and respect that they deserve.”
Similar legislation is already active in other Canadian provinces.
Similarly, in Dallas, civil rights laws have been amended to include protections for transgender people.
