NDAA Signed into Effect on December 31st, 2011

by Admin on January 11, 2012

On December 31st 2011, President Obama signed into law the “National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012”, a move that effectively legalized arbitrary military detention without trial for US citizens.

President Obama stated that he had “signed this bill despite having serious reservations with certain provisions that regulate the detention, interrogation, and prosecution of suspected terrorists.”

We’re having difficulty finding anything to laugh about with regards to the NDAA, but Stephen Colbert (as always) has managed to find some humor in the situation:

Thailand attorneys have have already observed  detentions by US military authorities  of non-US citizens in Thailand.  However, now Americans will have to deal with the reality of US citizens being held in military detention within America’s borders.
