China’s wives resort to ‘mistress hunting’ agencies to save marriages

Straits Times reports Chinese wives of cheating husbands are hiring agencies that specialize in ending extra-marital affairs.

According to Strait Times, the agency called Weiqing, run by founder, Mr. Shu Xin has 59 offices around the country with more than 300 agents whose main purpose is to infiltrate the mistress’ life and get her to end the affair.  The agents are usually psychology, sociology or law graduates who pose as neighbors, cleaners and even babysitters.

Mistress hunting agencies are usually expensive and can cost anywhere between $45,000 and $100,000. According to Kang Na, the head of a mistress-hunter service called the Reunion Company, success rate is 90 percent.

Divorce rates have been steadily rising in China with a recent survey showing that divorce rates surged from 1.59 per 1000 people in 2007 to 2.67 per 1000 in 2014.

The highest divorce rates have been found in European countries such as Belgium and Luxembourg where approximately 60-70% of marriages end in divorce. The U.S is reported to have a 53% divorce rate.
