The Missouri House Committee last week approved a bill that would allow farmers “to cultivate a very low-THC variety of cannabis which would be useful for a wide variety of agricultural and industrial purposes,” reports The Weed Blog.
Bills HB 83 and HB 170 were introduced to the Missouri House Agriculture Committee. HB 83 is sponsored by Representative Paul Curtman and HB 170 by Representative Craig Redmon.
According to Weed Blog, “the committee approved Curtman’s bill HB 170 yesterday with a Do-Pass Recommendation.” The bill then goes to the Rules Committee and then on to the House floor. If approved by the entire House of Representatives, it will be passed over to the Senate for its consideration before being sent to the Governor’s desk.
Hemp, a variety of the Cannabis plant, has been getting global attention in the recent year. Thailand officially legalized hemp farming late last year provided all hemp being cultivated contains no more than 1% THC.
Prior to legalization, possession or cultivation of the plant in Thailand was a punishable offence by law. Law enforcement is very strict and possession of drugs in Thailand will sometimes result in lifelong prison sentences.
