Mississippi Passes “Shocking” Anti-Gay Law

by Admin on April 7, 2016

The governor of Mississippi has passed a “religious freedom” law which may go further than any other state in minimizing gay rights.

The law will enable any business or government service worker to refuse service to LGBT couples.

The “Protecting Freedom of Conscience from Government Discrimination Act” has naturally been controversial.

The law will also allow the medical community to “decline to participate in the provision” of sex reassignment procedures, fertility services and psychological counseling.

Jennifer Riley-Collins, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Mississippi said in a statement:

“This is a sad day for the state of Mississippi and for the thousands of Mississippians who can now be turned away from businesses, refused marriage licenses, or denied housing, essential services and needed care based on who they are.”

US visa lawyers in Thailand Chaninat and Leeds have been successfully helping Thai nationals with their US immigration requirements for decades.

Governor Phil Bryant says the law will “protect sincerely held religious beliefs and moral convictions.”

Dazed Digital describes the law as “shocking” and argues that the law “seems to be proof that the US is actually travelling back in time.”

This comes just weeks after Georgia was set to introduce a similar religious freedom bill, which was scrapped at the last minute.
