Michigan Judge Has Affair with Plaintiff, Can’t Be Sued

Wade McCree, a Wayne County, Mich., Circuit Judge who had an affair with a woman in a case he oversaw, has lost his job but cannot be sued by the defendant in the case, who was also the woman’s husband, reports Jonathan Turley.

The ruling comes from the U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, which concluded that McCree, despite his actions, was still protected from lawsuits against him under judicial immunity.

The lawsuit was brought to McCree by Robert King, the former husband of Geniene La’Shay Mott whom McCree had an affair with during a child custody court case involving both King and Mott, according to Jonathan Turley’s report.

The Thailand child custody attorneys at Chaninat and Leeds have decades of courtroom and counseling experience in family law matters, including child custody, child support, and parental rights cases.

The Sixth Circuit’s opinion stated, “Because Judge McCree performed acts normally performed by judges and because he did so in his capacity as a state circuit court judge, his acts were ‘judicial.’ Accordingly, he receives judicial immunity.”
