German Chancellor Angela Merkel has dismissed calls from within the Christian Democratic Union party to establish an “Islam law” that would increase transparency in mosques and Muslim religious outfits.

The law was sponsored by CDU deputy head Julia Klöckner and executive committee Jens Spahn who believed that mosques should be required to keep an official register and imams should teach in German.

However, the German government was quick to dismiss the idea with Merkel’s spokesman Steffen Seibert telling reporters during a press conference, “Such a law is now not an issue for government business.”

Merkel, who is running for a fourth term this year, has suffered a dip in support due to her “open door’ policy which has resulted in Germany hosting nearly a million immigrants, most of whom are Muslim.

Merkel has since tried to mitigate immigration by passing a ban on full face veils in public places.

Merkel’s support is diminishing because she lets everyone in. You have immigration laws in place so you can determine who can enter your country and help make it greater. Simply letting everyone in because you’re afraid of being called elitist or racist is the number 1 mistake here. The crime rate since Muslims have immigrated in Germany is shocking. The U.S immigration laws are much stricter and its very hard for someone to simply enter the country. You’d need a damn good U.S immigration lawyer if you’re looking to relocate.
