He was channeling The Joker

A man in Virginia has been charged with wearing a mask in public after he was spotted walking around with heavy Joker makeup and a sword.
Jeremy Putman was found in violation of Virginia Code 18.2-422 which states that, “It shall be unlawful for any person over 16 years of age, with the intent to conceal his identity, wear any mask, hood, or other device, whereby a substantial portion of the face is hidden or covered, so as to conceal the identity of the wearer, to be or appear in any public place, or upon any private property in this Commonwealth, without first having obtained from the owner or tenant thereof consent to do so in writing.”
The law however adds exceptions such as “traditional holiday costumes” and “wearing a mask for medical purposes”.
Many have pointed out that although you could clearly not see Putman’s face, he was not wearing a mask and his costume seemed closer to a “traditional holiday costume.”
Putman could be sentenced for up to 5 years under the seemingly vague law.
