The verdict deciding whether a a Malaysian or English court is to hear a divorce petition between a former beauty queen and her estranged tycoon husband will be delayed further following a Court of Appeal ruling directing the High Court to review the case in regard toi the issue of jurisdiction and whether the case should proceed under Malay or English law reports The Malaysian Insider.
The husband is a Malaysian citizen and the bulk of his property is in Malaysia although he does have some business interests outside the country. The wife however wishes to prevent the Malaysian court from determining the couple’s divorce as she stands to get less in matrimonial properties and other benefits if the matter was decided according to the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976 in Malaysia.
