Judge Refuses to Step Down from Palestinian Immigration Case

Citing the National Law Journal, Immigration Prof reported that a Palestinian plaintiff, Rasmieh Odeh, sought to have a judge involved in Jewish organizations disqualified and removed from her case.

Judge Paul Borman rejected the motion to recuse himself, or step down for conflict of interest, saying, according to Immigration Prof, that the motion “strikes at the very heart of a federal judge’s pledge to administer impartial justice, and does so with careless and rank speculation.”

Though Judge Borman received some criticism for his vehement rejection, judicial ethics experts agreed that the recusal motion was unnecessary, according to Immigration Prof.
