Jakarta Post reports that the Indonesian government is looking to illegalize memes that are offensive or embarrassing.

The Electronic Information and Transactions Law (ITE) is currently placed under Indonesia’s defamation article and can criminalize internet users who post media communications that incite fear or embarrassment according to Daily Dot.  However, the government is looking to add posting of memes, texts, pictures or videos to the law.

The crime is cyberbullying and the government says that it is to be implemented to prevent kids from being harassed on the internet.
