IMDB calls the law ‘misguided’

Entertainment website IMDB.com has sued the Californian state for its legislation that requires the website to remove celebrities’ age upon request reports The Recorder.
State Assembly Bill No. 1687 was pushed by the Screen Actors Guild—American Federation of Television and Radio Artists union as a way to fight age discrimination faced by older actors.

IMDB filed a 15 page complaint saying that the legislation “unfairly targets” the website, which seems to be the only one affected by the law, according to a report by Deadline.
The suit calls the law unconstitutional and a misguided attempt to “combat age discrimination in casting through content-based censorship.”
The website seeks a declaratory and injunctive relief and named Harris, a Democratic leader elected to the U.S Senate on Tuesday, as the defendant.
