Burma Muslims Raided
Human Rights Watch reported that Burmese security forces have responded to sectarian violence in northern Arakan State with mass arrests and unlawful force against the Rohingya Muslim population.
The Burmese government has been urged by Human Rights Watch to end arbitrary and incommunicado detention while holding security forces accountable for serious abuses. A border security force known as Nasaka, as well as the military and local police, have been responsible for numerous abuses in predominately Muslim townships.
Since the sectarian violence in northern Arakan State began Burmese security forces have been implicated in killings and other abuses said Human Rights Watch.
President Thein Sein declared a state of emergency in northern Arakan State on June 10, which permits the armed forces to carry out arrests and detain people without fundamental due process protections.
Corrupt Singapore CNB Chief
Ex-Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) chief Ng Boon Gay has been charged
with four counts of graft for allegedly engaging in oral sex with the same woman on four occasions. The sex-for-favor charges all involved the same woman, IT sales manager Cecilia Sue Siew Nang, and have been denied by Ng.
Ng allegedly engaged in oral sex with Cecilia last year as an “inducement for doing an act…to further the business interest” of the two different IT companies she worked for in that period.
According to Today Online, Hitachi Data System (HDS), which employed Cecilia until November of last year, and Oracle Corporation, for which she is believed to be still working, were seeking contracts with the drug enforcement agency at that time.
An HDS spokesperson stated that “any alleged inappropriate behavior attributed to our former employee during her time at HDS, was undertaken without the knowledge of, or being condoned by, anyone at HDS.”
