The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Georgia has decriminalized the use of Marijuana. The court has awarded the right to use marijuana in terms of self-determination of a person. However, the production and distribution of marijuana is still an illegal offense.

The court recognizes that marijuana may be damaging to health but poses no threat to society. Therefore, the law that penalizes those for damaging their own health should not be applicable to society, the Jurist reports.
The non-parliamentary opposition party backed the suit which hopes the Courts decision will eventually lead to the legalization of marijuana.
