A proposal made by the Australian government to hold a national vote on same sex marriage has been turned down by the upper house of Parliament reports BBC.
The proposal to arrange a plebiscite came after several opinion polls held on the matter showed that most Australians support legalizing same sex marriage.
U.S marriage visas as well as fiancée visas for Thai citizens can be applied via Thailand based U.S immigration lawyers
Although it is already legal in many states, the national law still does not recognize gay marriages.
Opponents of the law said that a plebiscite would cost too much money and result in a divisive decision according to BBC.
